Treaty with the Piankashaw, 1815

The Treaty with the Piankeshaw of 1815 was signed on July 18, 1815 between the United States and the Piankeshaw tribe. Its purpose was to re-establish peace and friendship after the War of 1812 between the U.S. and Britain. It mutually forgave past injuries and hostilities and recognized all previous treaties made between the parties. The treaty reaffirmed the alliance between the U.S. government and Piankeshaw tribe that existed before the war. It aimed to formally realign them through renewed peace, friendship and recognition of past agreements.
