Patrick Gass Birth Site

Patrick Gass (1771-1870), son of Benjamin Gass, was born in the smaller portion of this historic house. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places. Gass served as a sergeant on the Lewis and Clark Expedition and was the first to publish an account of the journey in 1807.

The site includes a demonstration garden maintained by Penn State Master Gardeners commemorating the plants and agricultural practices of the era.
