Russell’s largest painting covers an entire wall of the Montana State Capitol. It depicts the September 4, 1805 meeting between the Corps of Discovery and the Salish (Flathead) people in Ross’ Hole. Lewis and Clark stand at right while interpreter Toby uses sign language to communicate.
