Lewis & Clark: November 13, 1803

The party reached the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers at present-day Cairo, Illinois. They began the difficult ascent of the Mississippi, fighting the powerful current as they headed north toward St. Louis and the mouth of the Missouri River.
