Noisy Pawnee

The Noisy Pawnee, or Pitahawirata (also known as Tappage), were one of the four bands of the Pawnee confederation, living along the tributaries of the Platte River in present-day Nebraska. The name "Noisy" or "Tappage" likely referred to the band's reputation in intertribal and diplomatic contexts. As a constituent band of the Pawnee Nation, the Pitahawirata participated in treaty negotiations with the United States during the early territorial period of the trans-Missouri West.
