										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="whitespace-pre-wrap">The Treaty with the Yancton of 1815 was signed on July 19, 1815 between the United States and the Yancton tribe. Its purpose was to re-establish peace and friendship after the War of 1812 between Britain and the U.S. The Yancton chiefs placed themselves under the protection of the U.S. and no other sovereign power. All friendly relations that existed between the parties before the war were renewed. The treaty aimed to officially align the Yancton tribe with the United States.</p>
