Treaty with the Sauk, 1816

The Treaty with the Sacs of 1816 was signed on May 13, 1816 between the U.S. and the Sacs of Rock River after hostilities during the War of 1812. It reaffirmed the Treaty of St. Louis of 1804 and placed the Sacs on the same footing as before the war, provided they return stolen property. If they failed to do so, they forfeited their share of annuities per the 1804 treaty. It aimed to restore peace and friendship through regulated trade and property return. The treaty formally aligned the Sacs with the U.S. in exchange for renewed annuities.

Treaty with the Piankashaw, 1815

The Treaty with the Piankeshaw of 1815 was signed on July 18, 1815 between the United States and the Piankeshaw tribe. Its purpose was to re-establish peace and friendship after the War of 1812 between the U.S. and Britain. It mutually forgave past injuries and hostilities and recognized all previous treaties made between the parties. The treaty reaffirmed the alliance between the U.S. government and Piankeshaw tribe that existed before the war. It aimed to formally realign them through renewed peace, friendship and recognition of past agreements.

Treaty with the Iowa, 1824

This 1824 treaty was between the United States and the Ioway Tribe. The Ioway ceded all their land claims in Missouri between the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers to the U.S. In exchange, the U.S. agreed to pay the Ioway Tribe $500 immediately plus $500 annually for 10 years. The treaty acknowledged U.S. sovereignty over the ceded lands and that the Ioway were under U.S. protection. The U.S. also agreed to support a blacksmith, provide farming supplies and animals, and agricultural assistance to the Ioway Tribe.

Treaty with the Osage, 1818

This 1818 treaty was between the U.S. and the Osage tribes regarding repeated property losses from Osage raids. The Osage ceded land between the Arkansas and Verdigris Rivers to the U.S. The U.S. agreed to pay $4000 to its citizens for property stolen by the Osage. The treaty aimed to resolve ongoing issues, promote friendship, and supplement previous treaties. It was signed in St. Louis by Governor Clark and Osage chiefs to address grievances on both sides.
