The Treaty with the Iowa and Missouri Sac and Fox of 1836 was signed on September 17, 1836 between the U.S. and the Iowa tribe and Missouri Sac and Fox band. Under this treaty, the tribes ceded lands between Missouri and the Missouri River to the U.S. to be incorporated into Missouri. In return, the U.S. provided payment and designated a reservation south of the Missouri River for the tribes. The treaty aimed to acquire the land west of Missouri for American settlement in exchange for establishing a defined reservation for the tribes.
