]]> This 1824 treaty was between the United States and the Ioway Tribe. The Ioway ceded all their land claims in Missouri between the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers to the U.S. In exchange, the U.S. agreed to pay the Ioway Tribe $500 immediately plus $500 annually for 10 years. The treaty acknowledged U.S. sovereignty over the ceded lands and that the Ioway were under U.S. protection. The U.S. also agreed to support a blacksmith, provide farming supplies and animals, and agricultural assistance to the Ioway Tribe.
